TLCBD and Female Empowerment

I love getting all of your questions via social and email.  As I sit down to write these blogs I always get the topics from you guys from your questions.

This topic is about being a female owned and run company.  You guys have been so supportive about my line from the start, but I love seeing your comments about supporting women owned companies.  It’s our time ladies!

As a woman in the music business, I know how hard it can be.  And as an entrepreneur, it’s even harder.  When I started thinking about launching a CBD line, I did a lot of research and learned the cannabis industry as a whole seems to have major issues when it comes to gender and racial inclusion.  I wanted to turn that on its head and be a BLACK FEMALE owned company in this industry.

I don’t want to make it seem like it’s only the CBD space that has less female owned businesses though, I think there’s a big discrepancy in the US business industry as a whole.  It’s just this industry, for being fairly new, seems like it should have more female leaders.  A 2017 report from Marijuana Business Daily found women only make up 27% of people who launch their own canna business, and minorities only account for 19%. Crazy right?

When I was looking for partners, I made an effort to look in my own community and in my own gender.  I’m proud to say we aren’t just female founded, we are female run. Our leadership is all female.  Our marketing team, our product development team, our chemists and biologists are all women.  Even our web designers and customer support team are women.  We also source our ingredients locally and work with as many female owned suppliers as possible. I’m also happy to say our leadership team is not just female, it’s over 50% minority women.

I love the fact that women like supporting other women, especially in business.  I think our products work for everyone – in fact, we’ve got men who use our products daily, but we often hear from them that they love supporting a female-run business.  It’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but I’ve never been worried about making everyone happy!

  2. Unquestionably believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the internet the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people consider worries that they just do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

  3. I will right away grab your rss as I can not find your e-mail subscription link or e-newsletter service. Do you have any? Please let me know so that I could subscribe. Thanks.
