7 Ways To Enhance Your Beauty With CBD

Special Guest Writer:

Cannabidiol(CBD), derived from the cannabis plant, is being used currently for a plethora of treatments. From health care to skincare, CBD is touching all industries these days. Several studies on CBD and cannabis legalization play a pivotal role in backing numerous CBD claims. The most enticing trait of cannabidiol is its anti-inflammatory quality that alleviates pain and reduces swelling. Cannabidiol has copious amounts of essential fatty acids and vitamins that form a perfect skincare combo.

To explain further, we have listed seven ways CBD can help enhance your beauty. Each pointer provides CBD as a solution to a problem and shows how you can use it in your daily life.

1. Acne

Acne is a skin condition predominant among teenagers due to hormonal imbalance during puberty. However, it can also occur at later stages as a side effect of certain medications or excessive oil secretion from the pores. The oil attracts bacteria and collects dead skin cells, which later erupts as a pimple.

How Can CBD Help?

Cannabidiol interacts with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) to regulate multiple psychological functions in the body. The skin has an ECS of its own whose primary function is to regulate oil production in pores. Research on human skin cells reveals that cannabidiol can restrain excessive oil secretion and help normalize it, which prevents the onset of acne. Moreover, CBD’s anti-inflammatory characteristics can potentially reduce the cause of acne-like hormonal imbalances, dietary triggers, and medication side-effects.

Usage: One can take CBD oil sublingually i.e. below the tongue twice a day. When the acne subsides, one can start using CBD topicals like lotion or cream directly to the skin.

2. Psoriasis and Eczema

Psoriasis is a skin disease characterized by uncontrolled skin cell growth and multiplication. It manifests as thick, red, and scaly patches on the skin. Eczema, a by-product of psoriasis, is a skin condition characterized by red, inflamed, and itchy skin.

How Can CBD Help?

The anti-inflammatory nature of CBD makes it a great candidate for treating these skin ailments. A 2007 study recommended that cannabidiol could slow down the accelerated growth and division of skin cells resulting in psoriasis and eczema. Another study proposed that CBD can provide relief from the intolerable itching of eczema.

Usage:

One of the most common and easiest ways to administer CBD for conditions like this is to use a topical cream or oil and apply to the area directly.

3. Wrinkles

Aging is inevitable, and wrinkles are a sign of skin aging. Factors like stress, pollution, eating processed foods, and dehydration can accelerate the aging process. Crow’s feet, smile lines, and forehead lines can deepen into wrinkles. However, we can slow down aging.

How Can CBD Help?

CBD has strong antioxidant properties that can combat oxidative stress. It can halt harmful free-radical damage.Studies imply that cannabidiol can encourage collagen production in the body, improve skin texture, and decrease wrinkles.

Usage:

Use CBD anti-aging cosmetics to diminish the signs of aging and apply CBD eye-creams to enhance firmness around the eyes, reduce dark circles, and under-eye puffiness.

4. Stress

Anxiety

Stress takes a significant toll on the skin and releases free radicals in the body. An unhealthy lifestyle is one of the primary reasons for stress.

Studies indicate that stress can cause inflammation, which can make the skin more sensitive. Under stress, the body releases the cortisol hormone that tells sebaceous follicles to generate oil. It, in turn, triggers rash, itchiness, breakouts, and other skin issues.

How Can CBD help?

Cannabidiol can help overcome stress by supporting a good night’s sleep and relaxing the muscles. An adequate amount of rest removes toxins and rejuvenates the skin. This way, CBD helps improve skin texture and appearance.

Usage:

Add low-sugar CBD gummies into your diet to get a sustained dosage of CBD throughout the day, thus, keeping stress at bay.

5. Sensitive Skin

Skin sensitivity can be mild or severe and varies from person to person. In severe cases, the skin can turn red immediately due to sun exposure or bacterial attack. On the other hand, in mild cases, the skin turns dry and loses its shine. Even strenuous exercise can bring out blemishes, redness, and rashes on sensitive skin.

How Can CBD Help?

CBD can be beneficial for people with sensitive skin due to its soothing traits. When mixed with a carrier oil, CBD has substantial calming and normalizing action on the skin. It can minimize issues like redness, reactivity, making the skin more vivid. Studies indicate that CBD can reduce strenuous exercise-related inflammation by acting on the oil-producing glands.

Usage: Apply lotion with CBD oil to protect the skin from future inflammation.

6. Uneven Skin Tone

Excess production of melanin due to sun exposure causes hyperpigmentation, which leads to an uneven skin tone. Smoking, injury, illness, or lack of hydration are also some of the major reasons for dark spots, discoloration, and uneven skin texture.

How Can CBD Help?

Adding CBD to the skincare routine helps in keeping the skin moisturized. CBD oil can easily penetrate through the skin pores giving an even skin tone without clogging the pores.

Usage:

Use a CBD infused body scrub to exfoliate the entire body. Then, take a shower and pat dry. After this, apply CBD oil generously, which will penetrate deep into the skin due to exfoliation.

7. Chapped lips

Lovable Lips

Just like skin, lips also undergo stress every minute of the day. Intense hydration is essential in keeping them moisturized and healthy, or else they can easily become chapped and start bleeding. Unhealthy habits like smoking and drinking caffeinated drinks can darken the lips.

How Can CBD Help?

CBD is a rich source of natural antioxidants like Vitamin D, and E which keeps skin moisturized, making it look brighter and smoother.

Usage: Use CBD lip balm that has super-healing properties and keeps the lips moisturized all day long. Also, switch to vaping CBD, instead of smoking cigarettes, to prevent the darkening of lips.

Conclusion

To sum it up, the plant-based CBD products are a great way to keep oneself internally and externally healthy. The above pointers show some simple ways to include CBD in your beauty regime. Try some of the ways mentioned above and find what works best for you.

Is CBD Good for Fitness

August 1, 2020

A lot of people ask us if CBD is good for fitness and overall health.  We pretty much always answer with yes.  Especially if you’re playing sports or working out.  So how does it help?  Let’s take a stab at it…

Every day athletes still need to recover and heal…

It helps with pain and inflammation

We know that sometimes we overdue it or get injured and that can set us back in our workouts.  Over exerting muscles often lead to lots of pain. Helping to reduce inflammation is so important to healing and to reducing pain while we’re recovering, because the lower your inflammation level is, the less pain you will feel. If you’re sidelined due to pain, try CBD and see if it helps you recover faster. We suggest either a tincture, gummie or pain balm. Find them under our health products section.

It helps with getting sleep – which helps with recovery

Exerting yourself physical day after day takes a lot of energy and determination. In order for your body to have the right energy to stay active, you need to focus on getting enough sleep. A lack of sleep can actually hinder your performance and your recovery from injuries.  Getting a full eight hours of sleep each night is important  if you want to stay healthy. CBD has a calming effect and helps with sleep related issues. If you have trouble going to sleep or staying asleep, CBD can help you.

It helps you stay motivated

If you workout a lot, you know it’s not only stressful on the body physical, it can also wear you out emotionally. The physical stress working out puts on a body can result in oxidative damage. This type of damage slows recovery time.  And if you feel horrible the day after an intense workout, chances are you may not go back.  CBD helps reduce oxidative damage in the body meaning you recover faster and avoid performance problems. Side note… increasing recovery time also helps build muscle faster!

The Benefits of CBD for Your Dog

July 1, 2020

Do you love your pets as much as we do? If the answer is yes and you have a pet who has skin conditions, medical issues or is just getting a little older, you’ve probably considered trying CBD.  Well, we’re here to tell you – do it!

What most of our customers ask us when choosing our Love Your Fur Baby products is – how does it help?  Let’s see if we can answer that for you…

What are the Benefits?

It helps with pain: CBD is known for its painkilling wonders.  We’ve seen great success in our own pets as well as with our charity partner, Harmony New Beginnings Animal Rescue.  We have dozens of animals on it for  assisting with arthritis, hip dysplasia, and other chronic conditions.  It’s much easier on their digestive systems and usually easier to get in them than a pain pill.

It helps with seizures:   Most people know CBD first became known in the mass culture when it was used to treat childhood epileptic seizures.  That same benefit happens in our pets as well.  CBD helps control spasms, tics, tremors, seizures because it is a natural anticonvulsant.

It helps with inflammation:  the anti-inflammatory effects of CBD are believed to be one of the primary reasons it’s so effective in treating an array of different conditions. If your pet suffers from arthritis or other inflammation (even a recent injury), consider CBD as an alternative to steroids and pills.

CBD helps with anxiety related to Fireworks

It relieves stress and anxiety: Just like us, our pets can get stress, anxiety, and even phobias. CBD is an effective way to help treat these conditions for pets.  Our dogs and livestock take CBD every fourth of July to help them get through the fireworks.

It won’t get your pet high: CBD is related to cannabis, but it will not get your pet high. Unlike THC, which is the main psychoactive compound found in marijuana, CBD isn’t psychoactive which means it is safe to use on your pet.

Don’t forget that a portion of all pet product sales on our site goes to Harmony New Beginnings Animal Rescue.

What Kind of CBD Form Do I want?

June 1, 2020

CBD is becoming more mainstream and we’re happy to see that.  There are also a lot more ways to enjoy CBD but we’re a little concerned with the vaping options.  So we wanted to take a moment and tell you about other ways to partake in the benefits of CBD without the negative effects of vaping on your lungs.

Here are our favorite ways to get CBD into our bodies…

Tinctures

You can enjoy CBD with a tincture or oil which aside from tasting pretty good, is also easier to gauge the correct dosage.  We take ours under the tongue, but some of our customers add it to their drinks.

Gummies/Drops

New decade
Gummies are yummy!

Some of our favorite ways to get CBD is by eating our gummies and sucking lozenges. They are easy to travel with, taste fabulous and are also easy to dose with as we package all of our products with the recommended dosage and strength.

Topicals

If you’re not into eating or drinking your CBD, you can always go with a topical.  We provide topicals like our Jump for Joy Pain Balm, our face products and our lip balm.  All are an easy way to get the benefit of CBD and get immediate assistance with inflammation, pain relief, and more. Not to mention the amazing way it helps correct your skin issues.  Our main reason for topicals is that it gives us the chance to direct the CBD exactly where we need the healing.  When our knees hurt, we use the pain balm and rub it in.  When our lips are chapped and hurting, a little Lovable Lips dabbed on gets an immediate fix going.

Can I Use CBD for Allergies?

May 1, 2020

A lot of you asked us over the past couple of weeks if CBD is beneficial for seasonal allergies.  And to be honest, we didn’t know, so we had to go to our chemists and clinical experts and ask.  They told us that products like our tinctures (Keep the Faith and Keeping the Faith) work best when it comes to allergies, so we had to dig in and find out why…

CBD Has Great Antimicrobial Properties

Allergies can be miserable

Scientists and clinical experts often talk about the benefits of CBD for the antimicrobial properties it has. And what many people don’t know is how common it is to have harmful allergens in the home or office.  Those allergens can make us susceptible to infections.   But with CBD, we can fight off infections because of the terpenes found in broad-spectrum CBD that fend off these nasty allergens.

CBD Helps with Inflammation

One of the most common signs you see with seasonal allergies is puffiness under eyes and aches in the sinus area. Usually, these are caused by increased levels of inflammation in the body. CBD-infused products are key in keeping inflammation down, especially when taken in tincture form.  So according to our scientists, reducing the inflammation makes the symptoms less severe when you’re encountering allergies

CBD Balances Our Immune Systems

The weaker our immune systems are, the harder it is to fight off colds and allergies. CBD is known to be a great way to boost immune systems and reduce the severity of seasonal allergies.  As we ingest CBD, our endocannabinoid system gets a kick start on fighting things off and will start to boost the immune system. With this added boost, a body can activate a response to the allergens that keeps us from sneezing or coughing when pollen levels reach their highest point.

Well, we definitely learn something new every day, we’re glad you asked!  We hope our tinctures help provide some relief to those of you suffering from seasonal allergies.

Why Topicals are a Good Option for Getting CBD

April 20, 2020

Keep the Faith
Tinctures are a great source of CBD

We’re fans of edibles and topicals at TLCBD.  Many people ask us how our topical products work so we wanted to give a little insight.

With a topical, like our Jump for Joy pain balm, you’re putting the product on your skin which then gets absorbed into the body through the skin. It’s important when using a topical that your skin is well hydrated – drink plenty of water, try not to drink too much alcohol and apply it at the right times.  For example, a topical face cream for moisture is best applied after you’ve taken a hot shower and your pores have opened up.

All of our beauty products are made to naturally hydrate while the cbd is being absorbed.  That’s why you see ingredients like hazelnut oil, lavender and Ylang-Ylang.  This means that the cbd you’re putting on goes deeper into the layers of skin as well as goes into the bloodstream.  When it comes to hydration, nothing beats our lip balm. And on the lips, it gets absorbed more directly and quicker.

Let us know if you still have questions and we hope you enjoy our line of topicals to help you get the CBD you want.

How CBD Fits Into Your Beauty Routine

A lot of you have been asking us how to insert our products into your existing beauty and skin care routine.  Especially those with acne and other skin issues.  So here is what you need to know:

So what’s the skinny on skin care?  Research suggests CBD helps even out our skin, reduces inflammation and can help with collagen production.  Here is how it helps with several common concerns:

Face Care

Acne: Since acne is mostly hormone related, and our hormones are hard to manage, CBD has been known to help manage hormone levels as well as diminish inflammation and assist with redness and swelling.

Inflammation:  The thing that excites us the most about CBD is that it acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. Since many skincare issues are rooted in inflammation, finding products that help with topical inflammation could be vital to maintaining healthy skin.

Itching:  An analysis published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology believes CBD works through nerve endings to block itching which is a common concern with many people when it comes to their skin.

Scarring: Many people suffer scaring from severe acne, mole removal and injuries.  Scars are made when skin tissue is damaged and topical creams and oils with CBD can be used to soothe the skin and help with cell regeneration throughout the healing process.  It has been shown to reduce the severity of the scars and actually improve existing scars.

Elasticity:  As we age, our skin thins, loses elasticity and can cause sagging and things like “turkey neck.”  Studies are showing that CBD increases elasticity in the skin, especially delicate skin areas such as under your eyes and on your neck. Selecting a CBD product that is cannabinoid-rich and includes botanicals that work naturally with the skin, will help these areas stay supple and hydrated.

Now that you know CBD is good for the skin, how do you choose the right products?  This is what many people ask themselves.  These are things to keep in mind when you’re choosing your CBD products.

World Peace
World Peace Face Oil
  1. CBD skin products have come far in a short period of time.  Always stay current on the newest formats like l, lip balms, oils and creams.
  2. Understand that different types and formulas work better for different parts of the skin.  Make sure you’re using a product made specifically for your face.  The skin on our bodies can handle heavier formulas than our faces will, with less of a chance for breakouts. Try a serum or face oil for the face and keep balms and lotions for the neck down. We recommend World Peace or  Young Love.
  3. Make it a routine – like with any skin care regiment, routine is everything.  Be consistent with your application if you want to see the best results. Carve out the extra few minutes each day and chalk it up to self-care.

We thank you for your service

Because we know not everyone can afford CBD products, we now offer a discount to veterans and people with long term disabilities.

TLCBD and Female Empowerment

I love getting all of your questions via social and email.  As I sit down to write these blogs I always get the topics from you guys from your questions.

This topic is about being a female owned and run company.  You guys have been so supportive about my line from the start, but I love seeing your comments about supporting women owned companies.  It’s our time ladies!

As a woman in the music business, I know how hard it can be.  And as an entrepreneur, it’s even harder.  When I started thinking about launching a CBD line, I did a lot of research and learned the cannabis industry as a whole seems to have major issues when it comes to gender and racial inclusion.  I wanted to turn that on its head and be a BLACK FEMALE owned company in this industry.

I don’t want to make it seem like it’s only the CBD space that has less female owned businesses though, I think there’s a big discrepancy in the US business industry as a whole.  It’s just this industry, for being fairly new, seems like it should have more female leaders.  A 2017 report from Marijuana Business Daily found women only make up 27% of people who launch their own canna business, and minorities only account for 19%. Crazy right?

When I was looking for partners, I made an effort to look in my own community and in my own gender.  I’m proud to say we aren’t just female founded, we are female run. Our leadership is all female.  Our marketing team, our product development team, our chemists and biologists are all women.  Even our web designers and customer support team are women.  We also source our ingredients locally and work with as many female owned suppliers as possible. I’m also happy to say our leadership team is not just female, it’s over 50% minority women.

I love the fact that women like supporting other women, especially in business.  I think our products work for everyone – in fact, we’ve got men who use our products daily, but we often hear from them that they love supporting a female-run business.  It’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but I’ve never been worried about making everyone happy!
